A San Antonio Festival Is Asking Residents to Rethink Water

Todos Agua Iii Brings a Week of Conversations, Music and Reflection About Water to San Antonio

San Antonio will host a week of conversations, music and cultural gatherings centered on one essential resource: water.

The Esperanza Peace and Justice Center and creative director Azul Barrientos have announced the return of Todos Agua III, the city’s third annual water festival taking place March 21 through March 28.

The gathering brings together elders, activists, artists and community members to reflect on the cultural and ecological role water plays across South Texas. Organizers say the event comes as Texas faces increasing drought, industrial expansion and growing pressure on rivers and aquifers.

Conversations on Water and Community

The opening gatherings on March 21 and 22 will explore the history of Texas waters, including springs that sustained Indigenous communities and early settlements.

The first discussion features Juan Mancias, Tribal Chair of the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas, whose advocacy focuses on protecting sacred lands and waterways.

The following day will include members of the Data Center Action Coalition, organizing around proposed data center developments in San Marcos and their potential impact on regional water supplies.

Todos Agua III returns to San Antonio March 21–28 with conversations, music and gatherings focused on water, culture and community.

Midweek programming on March 24, 26 and 27 will include virtual conversations and performances connecting San Antonio with voices from other regions. Guests include Tata Kajkan Felipe Mejía Sepet and Excy Guardado, who will share teachings rooted in Mayan traditions.

Upcoming: “I Am Every Woman” Concert

The week will also include a virtual workshop and concert with Chilean folklorist Julián Herreros Rivera, whose work blends traditional song, poetry and cultural storytelling.

Todos Agua III will conclude March 28 with a guided walk and writing workshop followed by a riverside gathering at Brackenridge Park’s Joske Pavilion.

Admission is free, though registration is requested.
