Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Roger Edward Adolf Warner

Roger Warner Legacy: A Musician & Craftsman, Rooted in Family and Excellence

(By: The Warner Family) — Roger Edward Adolf Warner was a proud member of one of San Antonio’s most recognized and musically gifted families — the Warner legacy.

Born into a family where music was not just a talent but a way of life, Roger carried on a tradition that began with his mother, Doris Ferguson, a trailblazer who founded one of the first African-American gospel groups at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. His father also shared the gift of music, and together they laid the foundation for a legacy that would impact generations.

The Warner family became known throughout San Antonio for their extraordinary musical gifts. They were not only vocalists, but also talented musicians, gifted in piano, guitar, drums, and harmonica, creating a sound and presence that left a lasting mark across the city and beyond.

Roger was surrounded by greatness. His brothers — Ralph Warner, Ronnie Warner, Rodney Warner, and Richard Warner — helped shape the family’s name in music, with Ralph, Ronnie, and Rodney becoming worldwide entertainers, performing across genres including blues, R&B, country, and rock. The Warner name became synonymous with musical excellence.

Continuing in that rich tradition, Roger was a gifted musician in his own right. A talented pianist with a golden voice, he began his journey in gospel music, performing with groups such as Raise of Hope and the Gospel Messengers, before later sharing his talents with the Legendary Legends.

Beyond music, Roger was known for his vibrant personality — a natural jokester who could light up any room the moment he walked in. His presence brought joy, laughter, and comfort to those around him.

He was also a man of many talents, a true jack of all trades with gifted hands. Whether building, painting, carpeting, or working on cars, Roger took pride in everything he did, and his work spoke for itself.

Roger also carried pride in his family’s continued musical legacy, including his late nephew, Rodney Warner Jr., known as one of the most talented drummers in San Antonio.

To know Roger was to love him. His music, his laughter, his spirit, and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
