Back to School, Back to Routine: Closing Out August on a Quieter Note

With students back in class across San Antonio-area districts, this week’s calendar is a little lighter as families settle into the school routine and fall activities begin to pick up.

Granted, there are a few reasons to step out. Mission Marquee Plaza continues its outdoor film series, while summer programs such as Sounds of Downtown and Downtown Thursdays wrap up for the season. Residents can also sign up for a free beginner tennis clinic at McFarlin, join a family nature walk or explore city classes in dance, art, fitness, music, martial arts and more for children and adults.

San Antonio’s regular outdoor pool season has ended, but seven city pools remain open on weekends from 1 to 8 p.m. through Labor Day, Sept. 7. Meanwhile, the city’s seven splash pads remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through October.
