Spurs Head Into Postseason After 62 Win Season Despite Loss To Nuggets
The Spurs dropped their final game of the season to the Denver Nuggets Sunday night at the Frost Bank Center.
The Nuggets defeated the Spurs 128-118 in the final game of the 2025-2026 regular season. The loss snapped a three game winning streak for the hometown Spurs as they head into the postseason for the first time since 2019.
San Antonio, which matched the third-most victories in franchise history after going 62-20, will play the seventh seed, which will be determined by the winner of the first play-in game between Portland and Phoenix.

De’Aaron Fox put in 24 points to lead the Spurs. Stephon Castle was one assist shy of notching his sixth career triple-double adding 10 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in his return from a two-game absence due to left foot soreness.
Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama, who reached award eligibility in his previous game, sat out as he recovers from a left rib contusion.
Nikola Jokic, a candidate for MVP, scored 23 points in the first half of his 65th game to become NBA award eligible. Denver had seven players score in double figures, including Julian Strawther with 25 points and Jonas Valanciunas, who finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Jokic sat out the second half after going 7 for 12 from the field, with eight rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in 18 minutes, 15 seconds.
In a game that meant little to the Silver and Black in terms of playoff positioning; the Spurs secured the #2 seed last week, a loss carried major implications for both teams as they move forward into the postseason.

The Nuggets came into the game needing a win to secure the #3 seed over the Los Angeles Lakers who defeated the Utah Jazz Sunday in Los Angeles 131-107. Denver (54-28) will host No. 6 Minnesota (48-33) in the opening round of the playoffs.
A win for the Spurs over the shorthanded Nuggets would have given the team a much easier path the Western Conference Finals.
With the loss, the Spurs may have to face Denver in the second round. The team is 1-3 against the Nuggets on the season.
The Silver and Black will have home court advantage throughout the first two rounds of the postseason beginning Sunday April 19th.
