Trump Weighs High-Profile Pardon Requests from Maxwell and Diddy

President Trump Signals Openness to Reviewing Pardon Requests for Ghislaine Maxwell and Sean “Diddy” Combs

President Donald Trump suggested this week that he might consider a pardon for convicted sex-trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, while also confirming that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs requested clemency.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump was asked about Maxwell after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear her appeal, leaving her 20-year prison sentence intact. Trump said he had not heard her name in some time but added, “I would have to take a look” and indicated he would speak with the Department of Justice about the matter.

Maxwell, the longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking and related charges. With her legal options now exhausted, a presidential pardon represents one of her only remaining paths for relief.

Trump also confirmed that Combs, who was sentenced earlier this year to more than four years in prison on federal charges related to prostitution, submitted a request for a pardon. Trump noted that he receives many such appeals from high-profile and everyday cases alike.

The comments have reignited debate over presidential clemency powers. Supporters of victims’ rights groups argue that granting Maxwell or Combs a pardon would undermine justice and erode public trust. Political analysts warn that any decision could carry heavy consequences as Trump balances law, loyalty, and public opinion.
