The Texas-based grocery chain has carried halal-certified products from Crescent Foods since 2022, adding hand-cut chicken, beef, and lamb in response to demand from the state’s growing Muslim population.
Halal meat is fundamentally a religious practice rooted in Islamic dietary laws that guide how food is prepared and consumed.
It is comparable to kosher food practices in Judaism, which follow their own set of religious dietary rules. The difference lies in the religion, as both are faith-based methods of food preparation observed by their respective communities.
The products are now stocked in multiple locations across San Antonio, Houston, and Austin.
