Families Can Connect with Therapists, Educators, Disability Advocates and Community Programs During the Free Chill Act San Antonio Expo
Families seeking autism services, special-needs resources or homeschool support will have an opportunity to find information and assistance in one place during the CHILL ACT San Antonio Expo.
The free family event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Morgan’s Wonderland, 5223 David Edwards Drive.
CHILL ACT is designed for families of children with autism, neurodiversity, disabilities, learning differences and other special needs, along with parents who homeschool their children.
Families will be able to meet representatives from therapy providers, educational programs, disability organizations, advocacy groups and community services. Participating professionals are expected to include speech, occupational and physical therapists, mental health providers, educators and applied behavior analysis providers.
Parents can ask questions, learn about available programs and explore resources that may help their children at home, in school and throughout the community.
Screenings, Activities and Family Support
Free autism pre-screenings will be available to help families discuss developmental concerns and learn about possible next steps. A pre-screening is not a medical diagnosis, but it may help parents determine whether their child could benefit from a full evaluation.
The expo will also include sensory-friendly activities, a sensory room, therapy animals, a petting zoo, face painting, live acrobatic performances and an art exhibition featuring work created by neurodiverse children.
Additional information will be available on homeschool programs, adaptive activities, scholarships, financial assistance and family support services.
Admission is free for families, but advance registration is encouraged. Families can register through Eventbrite or learn more from the CHILL ACT website.
