Burbank and Macarthur Will Open the 2026 High School Football Season with the “Twin Brothers Bowl.”
San Antonio’s 2026 high school football season will begin with a family rivalry when Burbank and MacArthur meet Thursday, Aug. 27, at Alamo Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the stadium, located at 110 Tuleta Drive.
Twin Brothers Meet as Head Coaches
The season-opening matchup has been named the “Twin Brothers Bowl” because Burbank head coach Mitchell Ricker and MacArthur head coach Jordan Ricker are twin brothers.
Although the brothers have shared a lifelong connection to football, Thursday’s game will mark the first time they have faced one another as head coaches.
Both coaches will be working to open the season with a victory while competing against someone who knows them better than nearly anyone else.
Parents Plan to Support Both Teams
The Ricker parents will not choose one son’s team over the other. Instead, they plan to spend one half of the game on one side of the field before switching sides for the second half.
The arrangement will allow them to support both sons during the historic family matchup.
Beyond the family storyline, the game gives Burbank and MacArthur players an opportunity to begin the 2026 season under the lights at Alamo Stadium.
The Twin Brothers Bowl begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78212.
