The BMF Actor Joins Jonathan Daviss in Universal’s Film, Scheduled for an August 2027 Theatrical Release
Actor Myles Bullock Be has been cast as Dr. Dre in Universal Pictures’ upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, adding another central figure to the film’s growing cast.
Bullock Be will appear opposite “Outer Banks” star Jonathan Daviss, who was previously selected to portray Snoop Dogg. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the casting, which Bullock Be later celebrated on Instagram.
“LA Kid playing an LA Legend,” Bullock Be wrote.
Bullock Be, who previously worked professionally as Myles Bullock, is known for appearances in “BMF,” “The Vince Staples Show,” “Criminal Minds,” “White Men Can’t Jump” and “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.”
The casting reunites him with director Craig Brewer, who also worked on “Fight Night.” Brewer’s other directing credits include “Hustle & Flow,” “Dolemite Is My Name” and “Coming 2 America.”
Bullock Be will portray Dre during one of the defining periods of a career that eventually expanded into music, technology and major business ownership.
How Dr. Dre Helped Launch Snoop Dogg
Dr. Dre played an essential role in introducing Snoop Dogg to a national audience after leaving N.W.A. to pursue a solo career.
Snoop appeared on Dre’s 1992 debut solo single, “Deep Cover,” before becoming a breakout performer on Dre’s landmark album, “The Chronic.” The partnership continued with Snoop’s 1993 debut album, “Doggystyle,” which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 800,000 copies during its first week.
The new movie will offer another portrayal of that influential partnership. Dre and Snoop were previously played by Corey Hawkins and LaKeith Stanfield, respectively, in the 2015 N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”
‘Snoop’ Scheduled for Summer 2027
Brewer revised a screenplay originally written by Joe Robert Cole, whose credits include “Black Panther” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
Snoop Dogg, Brian Grazer and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker are producing the film, which will draw from Snoop’s extensive music catalog. The project is the first movie under Death Row Pictures’ partnership with NBCUniversal.
Currently titled “Snoop,” the biopic is scheduled to open in theaters Aug. 6, 2027.
