Thousands Weigh in as the City Considers Changes to César Chávez Boulevard

Survey results show that 64% of respondents support changing the name back to Durango Boulevard, while 36% suggested alternative names.

Among residents who live on César Chávez Boulevard, support for reverting to Durango Boulevard was even stronger, with 79% in favor.

City officials emphasized that street name changes are only considered for significant reasons and that any proposed name should reflect the history and character of the surrounding community.

Community Input Continues This Week

The City will host two informal listening sessions to gather additional feedback before any decisions are made. These come-as-you-are meetings will allow residents to ask questions and speak directly with City staff.

Scheduled sessions include:

• Wednesday, April 8 (6–8 p.m.), Jaime’s Place, 1514 W. Commerce St., 78207

• Saturday, April 11 (3–5 p.m.), Tony G’s Soul Food, 915 S. Hackberry St., 78210
