Spurs Rally Past Raptors for 10th Straight Win, Close Gap in Western Conference Race

Vassell and Spurs Overcome Wemby’s Rough Night to Beat Raptors

It was a balanced attack as all five starters scored in double digits in last night’s road win in Toronto. 

The Spurs (42-16) rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Raptors (34-25) 110-107. Down 12 entering the final period, the Silver and Black outscored the Raptors 32-17 to close out the come from behind victory. The win extends the current win streak to 10, the longest current streak in the league. 

Devin Vassell continued his hot streak and led the Spurs with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. He was also 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. The fifth year guard has averaged 25 points over the last two games, including 28 points to lead all scorers Monday against the Pistons.

De’Aaron Fox added 20 points while Dylan Harper scored 15 points off the bench. Stephon Castle had 13 and Julian Champagnie 10 as the Spurs won their fifth straight against the Raptors.

It was another rough night for the big Frenchman. The young superstar struggled with Toronto’s physical play and had just four points at the half. He finished with 12 points on 3-of-12 shooting with eight rebounds. He went 1 for 6 from 3-point range and 5 for 6 at the free-throw line. His impact on the defensive end was key  however as he had five blocks.

Brandon Ingram had 20 points and a season-high 11 rebounds to lead the Raptors. He also had a team high 4 assists. Immanuel Quickley scored 20 points and Scottie Barnes added 15 as the Raptors lost their third straight at home.

The win was a big win for the Spurs in terms of playoff positioning. They are now just two games behind the Thunder for the top spot in the Western Conference. Oklahoma City lost to Detroit 124-116 last night in Detroit to help the Spurs cause.
