Pooh Shiesty Charged in Kidnapping Case Tied to Gucci Mane’s Label

Pooh Shiesty Kidnapping Case Names Gucci Mane as Victim

Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty is facing serious federal charges after prosecutors accused him and eight others of kidnapping and robbing multiple individuals at a Dallas recording studio, with one of the victims identified as Gucci Mane.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the incident took place on January 10, when three music industry professionals traveled to Dallas under the impression they were attending a business meeting.

Instead, authorities allege they were met with an armed takeover orchestrated by Pooh Shiesty, whose legal name is Lontrell Denell Williams Jr., along with several co-defendants.

Federal officials say the situation escalated quickly, turning what was expected to be a contract discussion into a violent confrontation.

Prosecutors Detail Alleged Armed Confrontation

An FBI affidavit states that Pooh Shiesty asked to speak privately with the owner of 1017 Records, Gucci Mane’s label, inside a recording room. Once inside, prosecutors say the rapper presented contract termination paperwork and demanded it be signed.

When the discussion turned into an argument, authorities allege Pooh Shiesty pulled what appeared to be an AK-style firearm and forced the victim to sign the document at gunpoint. Investigators say he then took valuables including a wedding ring, watch, earrings, and cash.

Outside the room, the remaining defendants allegedly held the other two victims at gunpoint, stealing jewelry, Rolex watches, and additional property. One victim was reportedly choked to the point of near unconsciousness, while another was blocked from leaving the studio.

U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould said in a statement that the victims “came to Dallas to conduct legitimate business” but were instead met with violence and intimidation.

Arrest, Investigation, and Evidence

FBI agents later searched Pooh Shiesty’s home in Cordova, Tennessee. He was not present at the time but was arrested later that same day in Dallas.

Prosecutors say investigators relied on a combination of surveillance footage, cellphone records, social media posts, and data from an electronic monitoring device the rapper was required to wear due to a prior conviction.

At the time of the alleged incident, Pooh Shiesty was on home confinement related to a previous federal firearms conspiracy case out of Florida.

Prior Convictions and Legal History

The 26-year-old rapper had previously served a 63 month sentence for a 2023 shooting in Florida and was released from federal prison in October. Following his release, Gucci Mane confirmed that Pooh Shiesty remained signed to 1017 Records.

Court records indicate that Pooh Shiesty had been staying in a residential reentry facility in Dallas and was expected to remain there through mid April.

If convicted in the current case, he and the other eight defendants could face life imprisonment.

Gucci Mane’s Role and Career Context

Gucci Mane, whose legal name is Radric Delantic Davis, is widely recognized as a key figure in the development of trap music. Rising to prominence in the mid 2000s, he helped shape the Atlanta hip hop scene and has played a role in launching the careers of several artists.

While his career has included past legal issues, in recent years he has focused on sobriety, stability, and expanding his influence within the music industry.

Publicists for Gucci Mane have not issued a statement regarding the case.

What Comes Next

The case now moves forward in federal court in the Northern District of Texas. Prosecutors continue to build their case against all nine defendants as additional details emerge through court filings and proceedings.
