Replacement Snap Benefits Are Available to Qualifying Bexar County Households Affected by Recent Severe Weather
Bexar County residents who receive SNAP have until Sept. 17 to request replacement benefits for food lost or destroyed during storms and power outages, state officials announced.
Deadline Extended to 20 Days
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission received federal approval to extend the standard reporting window from 10 days to 20 days. Replacement funds are expected to be added to Lone Star Cards within two business days after a request is received.
Recipients can request replacement benefits by calling 2-1-1, choosing a language and selecting option 7. They may also visit an HHSC office. Locations are available at YourTexasBenefits.com by selecting “Find an Office” at the bottom of the page.
WIC Replacements Also Available
WIC clients whose food purchased with September benefits was lost because of storm damage or power outages can also seek replacements. Those clients should contact their WIC office by Sept. 30. Local office details are available at TexasWIC.org.
Replacement assistance applies to qualifying food losses and does not happen automatically. SNAP households should submit a request before the Sept. 17 deadline. Residents needing resources, including food or shelter, can call 2-1-1 and select option 1.
