Trump Appearing To Sleep During Televised Cabinet Meeting Goes Viral

White House Downplays “Sleepy Trump” After Trump’s Meeting and MRI

Donald Trump appeared to fall asleep during a televised Cabinet meeting at the White House on Tuesday, instantly gifting the internet another viral moment and adding fuel to the ongoing conversation about his age, stamina, and recent medical disclosures.

The meeting, which stretched for hours, caught Trump on camera with his eyes closed and his head tilted to the side as Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised him as the “only leader in the world” capable of ending the Russian war in Ukraine.

The clip circulated across social platforms within minutes. Earlier in the meeting, Trump visibly struggled to keep his eyes open while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth discussed the administration’s controversial strikes in the Caribbean targeting alleged “narcoterrorists.”

“Trump asleep” surged on Google and Threads as critics highlighted the obvious irony: the same man who spent years branding Joe Biden as too old and too tired is now being roasted for looking like he needs a pillow mid-meeting.

“The president should get off Truth Social and rest! Ninety-minute meetings are extremely taxing, but especially for someone his age,” said Yemisi Egbewole, a former Biden White House official. Journalist Don Lemon added, “Is it nap time in D.C?!?”

This is also not Trump’s first public battle with drowsiness. On Nov. 8, he appeared to nod off during an Oval Office news conference about price cuts for weight-loss medications.

According to reporting, he fought to keep his eyes open for nearly 20 minutes as Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz delivered remarks at the Resolute Desk. That moment went viral too.

The renewed attention arrives as the White House faces mounting questions about Trump’s health. On Monday, officials released details of a previously undisclosed MRI the president underwent, after Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he had “no idea” what part of his body the scan was for.

The White House physician later insisted the MRI was purely preventive and standard for men his age, meant to monitor cardiovascular and abdominal health. The administration has also brushed off concerns over bruising on Trump’s hand and swelling in his feet, saying he is receiving treatment and remains fit to serve. His notably lighter public schedule in recent weeks has only intensified speculation.

Democrats and other critics aren’t holding back. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker told the Chicago Tribune, “This is a man who has something stuck in his head. He can’t get it out. He doesn’t read. He doesn’t know anything that’s up to date.”

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who Trump frequently attacks, has also questioned Trump’s cognitive fitness, saying earlier this year, “The fact that no one is questioning his mental acuity or fitness to serve is beyond wild to me.”

The contrast between Trump’s own record of mocking Biden’s age and the current string of sleepy-looking public moments has only made the discourse sharper. Whether the White House likes it or not, the footage—and the timing—has turned a momentary head tilt into a nationwide conversation about the president’s health and capacity in the middle of his term.
