Unreleased Beyoncé Music Stolen During Cowboy Carter Tour

Police are Investigating Beyoncés Unreleased Music Stolen Ahead of Atlanta Tour Stop

Unreleased Beyoncé music, show footage, and confidential tour materials were stolen from a rental car in Atlanta just days before the artist’s four-night Cowboy Carter tour stop in the city. According to Atlanta police, the July 8 break-in targeted a vehicle rented by Beyoncé’s longtime choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue.

The theft occurred just two days before the Grammy-winning artist kicked off her Atlanta shows. The stolen items included five jump drives reportedly containing unreleased songs, show blueprints, and set lists for both past and future performances—materials Beyoncé is known to protect at all costs. Additional stolen belongings included a laptop, designer clothes, and Apple AirPods.

Authorities Track Devices, Issue Arrest Warrant

Atlanta police dusted the vehicle, a black Jeep Wagoneer, for fingerprints and located two faint prints. Officers were also able to track the stolen laptop and AirPods using built-in location software, though it remains unclear whether any of the stolen items have been recovered. An arrest warrant has been issued, but authorities have not released the suspect’s identity or confirmed if they are in custody.

Grant and Blue told police they had left the vehicle parked outside a local food hall. Upon returning, they discovered the SUV’s rear window had been shattered and two suitcases gone. In their police report, the duo made clear the sensitive nature of the contents, describing them as personal and “carrying some sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé.”

A Legacy of Secrecy Around Beyoncé’s Music

Beyoncé is widely known for her extreme precautions to prevent leaks. From encrypted drives to silent studio sessions, the pop icon has made music security a cornerstone of her creative process. Her surprise 2013 self-titled album was famously recorded under the codename “Lily” and dropped unannounced on iTunes—redefining the rollout strategy for major artists.

This approach has continued throughout her career. Contributors to her projects often don’t know if their work will be used until the album’s official release. Post Malone, who collaborated with Beyoncé on Levii’s Jeans, told The New York Times she had the song delivered to him in person, under lock and key, while they finalized lyrics via text.

Leaks have been rare—and when they do happen, Beyoncé’s fanbase is quick to shut them down. When her 2022 Renaissance album appeared online two days early, fans organized to stop its spread. Beyoncé later thanked them in a handwritten message on her website, saying, “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Cowboy Carter Tour Continues Despite Breach

Despite the break-in, Beyoncé continued with her scheduled performances at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium from July 10 through July 15. Her husband, Jay Z, made a surprise appearance on the third night of the stop, joining her onstage during a high-energy set.

Grant and Blue, both integral to the staging and choreography of Beyoncé’s performances, have worked with her on major projects, including the 2024 Super Bowl ad where she previewed songs from Cowboy Carter. The album, which explores the Black roots of country music, has received critical acclaim and earned the Grammy for Album of the Year.

As of now, Beyoncé has not publicly commented on the theft. Representatives for the singer have also not responded to requests for statements.
