From Celebrity Speakers to Culinary Demonstrations and Business Workshops, the 2026 Essence Festival Offers Hundreds of Free Daytime Experiences in New Orleans
The ESSENCE Festival of Culture Presented by Coca-Cola has announced its complete 2026 daytime programming lineup, bringing together entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, chefs, authors and wellness leaders for three days of free experiences celebrating Black culture, creativity and innovation.
The daytime festival will take place July 3-5 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, in Louisiana, where attendees can explore hundreds of conversations, demonstrations, performances and networking opportunities before the evening concert series begins each night.
The Daytime Experience
More than entertainment, the daytime experience serves as a gathering place for community, education and inspiration while spotlighting the voices shaping Black culture today. Festival organizers noted that the 2025 event generated an estimated $321 million in economic impact for New Orleans, with more than 70% of attendees traveling from outside Louisiana.
Hosted by actress Tisha Campbell and entertainment personality Loren Lorosa, the ESSENCE Main Stage returns as the centerpiece of the daytime experience. This year’s celebrity lineup includes Keke Palmer, Octavia Spencer, Normani, La La Anthony, Eva Marcille, Sanaa Lathan, Ryan Destiny, Mario, Coi Leray, Destin Conrad and other artists, creators and cultural leaders participating in live interviews and conversations.
Creative direction for the Convention Center experience is being led by Teyana Taylor and The Aunties, whose programming will feature immersive experiences, curated discussions and community-centered activations throughout the weekend.
ESSENCE Authors Series
The festival also continues its commitment to storytelling through the return of the ESSENCE Authors series. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones will curate the nonfiction programming, while bestselling author Mara Brock Akil leads the fiction series. Featured speakers include Kimberlé Crenshaw, Tiffany D. Cross, Jamilah Lemieux, Tayari Jones, Ayana Gray and Teresa “Resa Teesa” Johnson.
Film lovers can explore the ESSENCE Film Festival, which received more than 600 submissions from filmmakers worldwide. The showcase will feature documentaries, feature films, shorts and the growing microdrama format while providing emerging filmmakers opportunities to connect with audiences and industry professionals. Disney and Prime Video will also host exclusive previews, cast conversations and behind-the-scenes discussions about upcoming projects.
Entrepreneurship and Wellness
Food, entrepreneurship and wellness remain central to the festival experience. Chef Nina Compton returns to curate the ESSENCE Food & Wine Festival, highlighting Black culinary traditions through demonstrations and tastings.
New for 2026 is Unbothered & Well, an expanded wellness destination offering more than 18 sessions focused on women’s health, mental wellness, faith, self-care and healing. The experience includes a mat Pilates session led by Keke Palmer.
Festival organizers encourage attendees to register through the E360 app to create personalized schedules, receive updates and navigate the weekend’s events.
