Protests Planned Across Texas As Organizers Rally Against Abbott Immigration Agenda

Activists Are Promoting a Texas “Day of Action” Focused on Immigration Rights and Opposition to Abbott-Era Immigration Policies

A statewide coalition of immigrant rights advocates and activists is organizing a “Texas Statewide Day of Action” on May 30, with demonstrations planned in multiple cities opposing immigration enforcement policies tied to Gov. Greg Abbott.

Organizations are calling all Texans to “Stand Up To Abbott!” by attending rallies in Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Waco. The events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in each city, including a San Antonio “Day of Action” planned at City Hall.

The campaign also carries the message, “Immigrants Are Welcome Here,” signaling that organizers will frame the demonstrations around immigrant solidarity and opposition to aggressive border and enforcement measures implemented in Texas in recent years.

Austin organizers listed the Texas State Capitol as the rally location, while Houston participants are expected to gather outside the Core Civic ICE Facility. Dallas organizers listed Van Buren and West Jefferson as the meetup site.

The demonstrations come as immigration remains one of the most politically charged issues in Texas and nationally.

Abbott has continued expanding state-led border operations and immigration enforcement efforts, drawing support from conservatives who argue the measures are necessary for border security, while critics say the policies have created fear and instability within immigrant communities.
