Planet Fitness Offers Free Summer Gym Access Returns For Teens Ages 14 To 19
Planet Fitness is bringing back its annual High School Summer Pass program, giving teens ages 14 to 19 free access to the gym throughout the summer.
The program, now in its fifth year, allows eligible high school teens to work out for free at more than 2,700 Planet Fitness locations across the United States and Canada.
Registration is available at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass, with club access running from Sunday, June 1 through Sunday, August 31.
Since launching the program in 2019, Planet Fitness says it has invested more than $300 million in waived membership dues to support youth health and wellness. The company says the program has helped millions of teens build healthier habits during the summer, when many young people may have less access to structured physical activity.
Teen Mental Health And Exercise Are At The Center Of The Program
Planet Fitness said a nationwide study conducted for the program found that 66 percent of parents are concerned about their teen’s well being and stress levels. The study also found that 72 percent of parents believe consistent exercise can improve their teen’s mental wellness.
Teen responses also pointed to exercise as a positive outlet. According to the company, 90 percent of teens said exercise helps them feel happy, while 88 percent said they feel an improved mood after working out.
The study also found that 50 percent of teens said their fitness levels tend to decline during summer break. Planet Fitness said the free summer program is designed to help teens stay active, build confidence and create healthy routines while school is out.
What Teens Get Through The Free Summer Program
High School Summer Pass participants will have access to Planet Fitness strength equipment, cardio machines, stretching areas and certified fitness trainers. The program also includes teen specific workout plans designed to help young people build strength safely and effectively.
Participants can also use the free Planet Fitness App, which includes hundreds of on demand digital exercises. Planet Fitness said the goal is to give teens access to a welcoming environment where they can work out without intimidation.
“At Planet Fitness, we offer a high value experience to both our members and High School Summer Pass participants in a welcoming, Judgement Free environment where everyone can get a great workout,” Planet Fitness CEO Colleen Keating said. “With free access to our clubs throughout the summer, we’re providing teens with the tools they need to develop healthy fitness habits that can last a lifetime.”
How Teens Can Sign Up & Find Your Nearest Location
Teens ages 14 to 19 can register online and participants must work out at the location where they sign up and are not permitted to use other Planet Fitness locations under the program.
Teens under 18, or under the age of majority in their jurisdiction, must sign up with a parent or guardian either in club or online.
Once the parent or guardian waiver is signed, teens may work out alone. Teens who are already 18, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, do not need a parent or guardian present during the sign up process.
Planet Fitness said locations are independently owned and operated, and families should check with their local club for details. To find yours, click here.
