Multiple Cities, Nationwide, Will Host Peaceful “No Kings” Demonstrations This Saturday
What began as a one-day protest in October 2025 has evolved into a sustained national movement, with organizers preparing for another wave of “No Kings” demonstrations set for this weekend.
The initial protests, which drew millions across the country, were rooted in growing concern over Donald Trump’s expanding use of executive power, aggressive policy shifts, and symbolic decisions that has pushed America into authoritarian control.
Since October, tensions have escalated amid sweeping policy changes, violent protests, TSA funding lapses raising safety concerns, expanded military actions, and racist public messaging, all met with legal challenges and public backlash.
Organizers say the March protests are a direct response to what they view as accelerating political overreach since October.
Trump Check-In: Key Developments Since October 2025
- Immigration enforcement has intensified, with ICE detention numbers reaching approximately 73,000 people as of March 2026
- In Minneapolis, two fatal shootings by federal immigration agents in January 2026, involving Renée Good and ICU nurse Alex Pretti, sparked widespread protests and national outrage
- New tariffs and trade policies have been introduced, contributing to rising costs and economic uncertainty
- U.S. military activity has expanded globally, including reported operations in Venezuela and an ongoing joint war campaign with Israel against Iran following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader
- The East Wing of the White House was demolished for a privately funded $400 million ballroom project
- Federal landmarks and institutions have been renamed or proposed for renaming, including efforts tied to the Kennedy Center and the U.S. Institute of Peace
- Trump has faced criticism for online activity, including sharing an AI-generated video depicting harm toward “No Kings” protesters and a racist meme of Former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama.
A third wave of nationwide protests is now planned for March 28, signaling that what began as a single day of action has grown into a broader, ongoing movement.
