Project Marvel, Constitutional Amendments, and School Funding on the Line in Nov. 4 Election

Early voting in Bexar County kicks off Monday, Oct. 20, and runs through Friday, Oct. 31, ahead of the Nov. 4 general election. Polls are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week, with extended hours—7 a.m. to 7 p.m.—on Saturday, Oct. 25 and again during the final week of early voting, Oct. 27–31. Sunday hours will be 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Registered voters can cast ballots at any early voting site listed on the Bexar County Elections Department’s website. The last day to request a mail ballot is Oct. 24.

Spurs’ Arena, Rodeo Redevelopment Top Local Ballot

Bexar County voters will decide on two high-profile local measures, Propositions A and B.

Proposition A would raise the county’s hotel occupancy tax from 1.75% to 2% to generate roughly $191.8 million toward redeveloping the Frost Bank Center, Freeman Coliseum, and the rodeo grounds on the East Side. The plan is designed to create a year-round event and entertainment district.

Proposition B would direct $311 million in county venue tax revenue to fund a portion of a proposed $1.3 billion multipurpose arena, envisioned as the future home of the San Antonio Spurs. If approved, the measure would also trigger the city’s planned $489 million investment in the arena, which doesn’t require a public vote.

Texas Constitutional Amendments

Statewide, Texans will decide 17 proposed constitutional amendments covering a wide array of issues, from property tax relief for homeowners and veterans to infrastructure, judicial reform, and education funding.

School Districts Seek New Revenue Measures

Several school districts are asking voters to approve new funding measures amid rising costs and state funding shortfalls.

  • Judson ISD, East Central ISD, and Schertz-Cibolo ISD are each seeking tax rate increases to sustain teacher pay and classroom programs.
  • North East ISD is holding a bond election to address infrastructure needs and facility upgrades.
