Allred Unveiled His “A More Affordable Texas Agenda” As Part Of His 2026 Senate Campaign
Texas Senate candidate Colin Allred is laying out his 2026 campaign priorities in a new six-page policy document titled A More Affordable Texas Agenda. The plan zeroes in on reducing everyday costs for families, starting with repealing former President Donald Trump’s tariffs, which Allred calls a tax on working Texans.
“This plan takes on the cost crisis directly, so families don’t have to make impossible choices and can finally get some relief,” Allred said.
Policy Proposals in the Agenda
The document outlines bills and reforms Allred would champion if elected, including:
- Repealing Trump’s Tariff Tax – citing a $2,300 average annual cost to Texas families.
- Banning grocery and consumer goods price gouging to block corporations from hiking prices unfairly.
- Cutting prescription drug costs by expanding Medicare and Medicaid negotiations and boosting generic drug production.
- Lowering utility bills by restoring investments in renewable energy.
- Making housing affordable through tax credits for first-time buyers, affordable housing expansions, and renter protections.
- Strengthening Social Security by requiring the wealthy to contribute equally, extending solvency for 75 years, and expanding benefits.
- Paid family and medical leave to support parents and caregivers.
- Childcare relief through a fully refundable Child Tax Credit.
- Higher education access with two years of free community college and increased Pell Grants.

Contrast with Rivals
Allred is positioning himself as the Democrat with a concrete plan while Texas state Rep. James Talarico also competes for the party’s nomination. On the Republican side, Sen. John Cornyn faces a primary challenge from Attorney General Ken Paxton.
“I’m listening to Texans in every corner of the state who are struggling, and I’m going directly to them with clear solutions to improve their lives,” Allred said. “I’m ready to fight like hell for them, while Republicans like John Cornyn and Ken Paxton turn public office into a racket for billionaires and special interests.”
Building Momentum
The agenda follows Allred’s recently released anti-corruption blueprint, reinforcing his broader message that Washington favors the wealthy while everyday Texans are left behind. He plans to highlight both policy packages at upcoming campaign events as the Senate race intensifies.
