Colin Allred Gains Endorsements from Several Members Of The Texas Legislative Black Caucus
Support for Colin Allred’s U.S. Senate campaign continues to build momentum as five members of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus formally endorsed him. The endorsements, announced today, came from State Reps. Alma Allen (HD-131), Rhetta Bowers (HD-113), Barbara Gervin-Hawkins (HD-120), Venton Jones (HD-100), and Toni Rose (HD-110).
This wave of endorsements strengthens Allred’s standing among key Democratic leaders in Texas as he prepares for the statewide race.
Barbara Gervin-Hawkins Speaks on Her Support
State Rep. Barbara Gervin-Hawkins, who represents Texas House District 120, said her endorsement is grounded in Allred’s record as a civil rights lawyer.
“I am proud to support Colin – a civil rights lawyer who has been in the trenches for years and has won big fights against voter suppression.” Gervin-Hawkins stated.
“Colin understands what is at stake for Texas families. Whether it is standing up to attacks on our public schools, protecting our right to vote, or investing in working-class communities, Colin is not afraid to speak up, show up, and fight back.”
Strong Support from National Democratic Leaders
The new Texas endorsements add to a coalition of national figures already backing Allred. In recent weeks, members of the Congressional Black Caucus have joined his campaign, including Sanford Bishop (GA-02), CBC Chair Yvette Clarke (NY-11), former CBC Chair Steven Horsford (NV-04), CBC PAC Chair Gregory Meeks (NY-05), Assistant Democratic Leader Joe Neguse (CO-02), and Rep. Lauren Underwood (IL-14).
Last week, Allred also secured the support of Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33).
Allred Responds to the Endorsements
In a statement, Allred expressed gratitude for the Texas leaders’ support:
“I’m honored to have the support of these leaders from the Texas House. They’ve shown extraordinary courage standing up to Republicans’ blatant power grab and their attempts to silence Black and Brown voters. Having them in my corner means so much, because this campaign is about the same fight — making sure Texans have a voice and a fair shot.”
As the race intensifies, Allred’s growing list of endorsements signals strong momentum for his 2026 Senate campaign.
