July 4th Weekend Leads This Week To-Do’s Around Town

San Antonio heads into July with a Fourth of July weekend packed with downtown celebrations, family-friendly festivals, and holiday traditions across the city. Looking ahead, families and residents can also mark their calendars for outdoor movies, back-to-school giveaways, local markets and film festivals coming up later in the month.

Remember city splash pads are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 23 outdoor city pools are now open for the summer season.

Bexar County Parks will celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a free Independence Day event featuring live music, food trucks, carnival rides, inflatables, face painting, kids’ crafts and family activities. San Antonio’s downtown Fourth of July celebration returns for America’s 250th birthday with a full day of events, including the inaugural Downtown 5K, Independence Day parade, Music & Food Festival and evening fireworks finale.

Scheduled events include:

Downtown 5K
Where: Starts at Legacy Park, 103 W. Houston St., and finishes at Civic Park at Hemisfair, 210 S. Alamo St. | When: 8:30 a.m.

Independence Day Parade
