Animal Care Services to Host Community Connections Day with Rescue Groups and Free Ice Cream
San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is inviting the community to celebrate International Ice Cream Day while learning how to help local animals in need during its upcoming Community Connections Day.
The event will be held Sunday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Animal Care Services Training Annex, located at 4710 State Highway 151. Community members will have the opportunity to meet several rescue organizations that partner with SAACS and learn more about pet adoption, fostering and volunteer opportunities.
Meet Local Rescue Organizations
Community Connections Day will showcase a variety of nonprofit rescue partners that work alongside SAACS to improve lifesaving efforts for animals across the San Antonio area.
Participating organizations include Alamo City Pit Bull Rescue, Texas Husky Rescue Inc., Winding Branch Ranch, Pei People Shar Pei Rescue, Bluebonnet Equine Rescue, Helotes Humane Society and Weimaraner Rescue of Texas.
Visitors can speak directly with representatives about each organization’s mission, rescue efforts and ways to get involved.
Learn About Fostering
Residents interested in fostering a pet can explore programs that best fit their schedules, households and experience levels.
Approved participants may even have the opportunity to foster a pet through one of the participating rescue organizations the same day.
Sweet Treats for People and Pets
In celebration of International Ice Cream Day, guests will receive free ice cream, while canine companions can enjoy complimentary pup cups during the event.
Animal Care Services says rescue partnerships remain a vital part of its mission to save more lives and connect pets with loving homes throughout the community.
