School Is Starting To Let Out And The Summer Calendar Is Heating Up With Pride Month and Holidays
Summertime is here with several school districts wrapping up the school year this week where families can start looking ahead to summer camps, outdoor movie nights, park events, and for the month of June brings Pride Month, Juneteenth celebrations and Father’s Day plans.
Don’t forget, as school heads out, the City of San Antonio’s Summer Youth Program and Summer Teen Club both begin June 1, offering kids and teens activities, sports, STEAM programming, fitness, arts and more through the summer.
This Week’s Calendar of Events: May 28-June 4th
2026 Summer Youth Program
Where: Various locations | When: June 1-July 31
The City of San Antonio’s Summer Youth Program returns with activities for kids and teens at various locations throughout the summer. Registration began April 18 but the books are still open. Click here for registration, cost and location details.
2026 Summer Teen Club
Where: Garza Community Center, Frank Garrett Multi-Service Center, South San Community Center and Woodard Community Center | When: June 1-July 31, dates vary by location | 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Teens ages 13-17 can join the free Summer Teen Club for STEAM activities, esports, sports, fitness, fine arts and special programming. Lunch and snacks are included. Register online or at a participating community center.
2026 Preseason Pools
Where: Select San Antonio Pool Locations | When: Weekends | 1 p.m. to 7 p.m

Summer in San Antonio means high temps and cool pools. Seven preseason pools are open on weekends at Elmendorf Lake, Fairchild, Heritage, Kingsborough, Lady Bird Johnson, Spring Time and Woodlawn Lake. Pools are free to the public. Click here for pool rules, hours and aquatics details.
2026 Summer Sports Camps
Where: Various Locations | When: June 8 Through July 24 | 8 a.m. to noon
Kids ages 8 to 14 can take part in free, two week sports camps offered throughout the summer. Each session focuses on a different group of sports, with snacks provided for participants. Pre-registration is required, and walkups will not be accepted. Click here to register and to learn more.
• June 8 through June 19: Basketball and volleyball at Woodlawn Lake Park Gym
• June 22 through July 3: Flag football and soccer at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex
• July 13 through July 24: Pickleball and tennis at Fairchild Park

Tiff’s Treats School’s Out Bingo Party
Where: McAllister Park, Turkey Roost Pavilion, 13102 Jones Maltsberger Road | When: Friday, May 29 | 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Bexar County Parks is kicking off its free outdoor movie series with a family friendly screening under the stars. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and your favorite people. Visit the Bexar county website for the full summer movie lineup.
Saturday, May 30th
Pride River Parade And Celebration
Where: La Villita Historic Arts Village, Arneson River Theatre, 418 Villita St., And The San Antonio River Walk | When: Saturday, May 30 | Celebration 6 p.m. To 10 p.m., Downtown River Parade 7:30 p.m. To 9 p.m.
Visit San Antonio created the Pride River Parade to promote the city’s inclusion, encouragement and support of the LGBTQ+ community. The fifth annual event features live on stage entertainment at La Villita’s Arneson River Theatre, along with two river parades. Click here for more information.
