Allred Has His Boots On The Ground And Folks Are Liking It, Poll Shows

AT A GLANCE

  • Allred has raised over $4.1 million from more than 100,000 small-dollar donations — with zero corporate PAC money.
  • His grassroots campaign focuses on affordability, corruption, and reconnecting politics with real Texans.

Colin Allred Texas Works Tour Gains Steam as New Poll Shows Him Leading Democrats, Beating GOP Rivals

From the sidelines of Texas football fields to local bars in rural towns, the former NFL linebacker turned congressman is shaking hands, listening to stories, and getting a firsthand look at what Texans are up against.

“Texans work hard every day — often in jobs that don’t get enough recognition — and they deserve leaders who will work just as hard for them,” Allred said. “These visits are about listening, learning, and lifting up the folks who make our communities thrive.”

Friday Night Lights to Podcast Mics, Starts Real Conversations

Allred’s version of campaigning looks a lot like community service. For five straight weekends, he’s been under the Friday night lights — not on the field, but in the bleachers — talking with coaches, parents, and students about the rising cost of living and what it takes to make ends meet.

“I honestly believe you can learn more in one quarter on the bleachers than a week in Washington,” Allred told the Houston Chronicle. “There’s just something very real about being able to talk, listen, watch a game, and let folks know that you care.”

Allred’s campaign isn’t slowing down. He’s held rallies and town halls across Texas from Amarillo to the Rio Grande Valley. He’s joining podcasts, including a sit-down with The David Pakman Show, where he discussed affordability, Social Security, and his plan to build a winning coalition across political lines.

“I’m running for Senate laser-focused on lowering costs for everyday Texans and unrigging a system that only works for a wealthy few,” Allred said. “Already, we’ve traveled across this state, hearing what’s keeping people up at night — from the price of groceries to the future of our democracy.”

Poll Numbers Back Up the Momentum

A new University of Houston/Texas Southern University poll shows him leading the Democratic field and outperforming every other Democrat against potential Republican opponents, including John Cornyn and Ken Paxton.

Allred holds a commanding lead with Black voters and shows strong support among Latino voters, men, and non-college-educated Texans key demographics needed to flip the state blue.

“Texans are responding to Colin’s campaign because he’s showing up everywhere — from high school football bleachers to small-town businesses to town halls — talking about the issues that matter most: lowering costs, cleaning up corruption, and building a more affordable Texas,” said Allred for Texas spokesperson Dan Gottlieb.

The poll underscores Allred’s growing statewide momentum after months of grassroots outreach. His campaign is built on showing up not just to give speeches, but to listen and connect.

Now, as he travels across every corner of Texas, Allred’s message remains simple, politicians should work as hard as Texans do.

Or, as he puts it: “Friday Night Lights is where the real Texas shows up.”
