Crucial Election Details: Key Dates, Propositions, and Community Engagement for November 2024
In the course of ensuring that voters are armed with the most accurate and important information for the upcoming elections, we are continuing to provide readers with much of what’s pertinent for the November 5th, 2024 elections, local, state and national!
Key Election Dates
- The last day to register, to vote is October 5, 2024.
- Early voting begins October 21 and ends November 1, 2024.
- Last day to request a mail-in ballot is October 25, 2024.
- Election Day is November 5, 2024.
City Council Pay Raise Proposition
For clarification purposes, Proposition E will allow voters to decide whether their City Council members should be paid an annual salary of $70,200 and the mayor paid an annual salary of $87,000. (See page 14 more information).
These salaries were last changed in 2025, when they were increased to $45,722 for council members and $61,725 for the mayor. These are salaries that were aligned with the average median income of San Antonio at that time. Before then, council members were paid $20 per meeting. The original recommendations, from the Charter Review Commission, were council salaries of $89,000 and mayoral salaries of $95,000 before council members stepped in to call on the raised to be reduced.

Interest from additional community-led organizations, in the upcoming November election, has been growing at quite a rapid pace. Here’s the latest:
D2 Strong is hosting a series of Project 2025 Town Halls, @The Empowerment Center located at 3503 NE Parkway San Antonio,Texas. This series begins on September 5th at 6:30 pm and continues on consecutive Thursdays – September 12th,
September 19th and September 26th.
The Power of One will be hosting a Project 2025 discussion, on September 8th, 2024, at the Carver Branch Library, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. The discussion will be focusing on the Transformation of Education. The focus will be on education vouchers, the cancellation of DEI policies and restrictions on how history is taught.
