YOUNG CHILDREN OF COLOR BEING MISSED

An estimated 5 percent of kids under the age of 5 were not counted in the last Census (2010).  When you do the math that is a whopping 1 million young children which is the highest of any age group.  We must close the gap and we need your help.  After much research here is why we found young children are missed and what we can do to ensure they are counted.

Young children are not counted in common situations such as splitting time between two homes or living with a grandparent.  The child may also live in a lower income household or a household with young parents or a young, single mom or the child could be a newborn.  Each circumstance has shown that these young children are not being counted and must be.  Ensure you are talking to your neighbors and friends and sharing the information with those who may not be aware.

We encourage parents to fill out the 2020 Census form at www.2020census.gov  to ensure the services necessary can be provided for their young children that are often not counted.  Make them count today and complete the 2020 Census.
