On this past Monday, a hardy group of San Antonian’s, showed up, at the Williams National Museum, located on the Southeast corner of Hackberry and Montana Streets, to be treated to a short entertainment program as well as to receive an in-depth preview of the deeply moving work of Mr. Charles Williams, former owner of Williams Barber College.

Mr. Williams has compiled a vast collection of artifacts, newspaper clippings, memories, momentoes,  photographs and more, which tells a unique and compelling story and will give future visitors a new perspective of life, in San Antonio’s African – American Community, from the early 1900’s to the present.

There are multiple areas, of the former church, which cover specific categories, including trailblazers in politics, entertainment, education, sports, journalism, religion, business, and displays that pay tribute to St. Philips College, the Military, Civil Rights leaders, as well as calling attention to what life was actually like, in San Antonio, in past eras.

Mr. Williams also recognized a number of supporters, who were instrumental in providing various means of support, as he worked tirelessly, towards restoring the former church, and creating an incredible Museum for many future visitors, to learn more about African American history, in San Antonio, and for residents to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane, which will be thoroughly enjoyed.
