New Voter Suppression Tactics Could Block Millions from the Ballot Box
Presently, we are now witnessing a variety of “time worn tactics”, designed to reduce the number of voters that would cast their votes, in federal and possibly state and local elections.
Recent media reports have referred readers to look at mass purges, in some Southern states and largest, and other tactics designed to challenge voter rolls in those same locales.
Over the past year, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act was introduced by the President and his allies, focusing on the baseless narrative that noncitizens presented a major threat to the 2024 election.

”Proof Of Citizenship”
America First Legal, a conservative public interest organization, founded by Stephen Miller – the White House Chief of Staff, is petitioning the Election Assistance Commission to impose a nationwide “proof of citizenship” requirement for voter registration! If adopted, this regressive “show your papers” policy could hinder or prevent as many as 21 million eligible Americans from registering and voting.
Erecting Barriers to Vote
These efforts aren’t about election security – it’s about using any tactic available to suppress votes. Anti-democracy forced know that “by erecting barriers – more paperwork, stricter ID demands, costly delays and “moving the goalposts” – they can keep millions of people from exercising their rights to vote.
Although the SAVE Act is now stalled in Congress, it also poses a hindrance to a great number of women voters, who would be responsible for presenting their birth certificate when registering to vote and when casting their ballot. There’s a suggestion that the measure will try to eliminate mail-in voting.
To combat these tactics, citizens must become more engaged and involved in working with family, friends and neighbors, with the intent to increase voter turnout, come this November. My motto going forward shall be – Register and Resist!
