Vigilantes: Illegal Killers

According to the dictionary a Vigilante is, “A person who tries in an unofficial way to prevent crime, or to catch and punish someone who has committed a crime, especially because they do not think that official organizations, such as the police, are controlling crime effectively. Vigilantes usually join together to form groups.” Kyle Rittenhouse, and his fellow criminal operators, are such a group that went to the Black Lives Matter protest looking for an excuse to kill people. His crime is nothing new as the KKK and other extremist groups over the years have murdered many people accused of crimes that these racist groups thought up in their minds. In the aftermath of the August 2020 police shooting of Jacob Blake, Jacob Blake is an African-American man who was shot four times in the back during an arrest by a police officer. Protests, and civil unrest occurred in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and around the United States as part of the larger 2020–2021 outrage by Black Lives Matter movements of the continuous murder and abuse of Black and Brown men by police.

Anytime individuals attempt to become the police, without any authority, they run the risk  of breaking the law and being charged with a crime as the killers of Ahmaud Arbery are now facing. Self-appointed vigilantes are popping up all around the country and include the Texas Freedom Force, the politically crazed nuts who were pretending to guard the Alamo. They have been identified by the FBI has as an extremist group. The not guilty verdict in the Rittenhouse case is a travesty of justice, especially since the bigger question of white racists showing up at protests that they disagree, looking for trouble,  with while pretending to protect property or some other invented story. When white racists, can show up with automatic weapons in a show of false frontier bravado, we have a real problem. Kyle Rittenhouse and his racist buddies have set in motion actions that can be used to murder people. Why would Kyle Rittenhouse have showed up to a Black Lives Matter protest, fully armed, and not be going there looking for trouble? All of these vigilante groups and extremists go to protests looking to hurt people.

The community is waiting to see what type of injustice will take place in the trial of Ahmaud Arbery who was chased down by ignorant racist vigilantes who racially profiled a Black jogger. The lawyer for the three men on trial for murder in this case used the old racist courtroom ploy of singling out Black ministers who were there to pray and support the family of Ahmaud Arbery. According to CBS news, “Arbery was Black and the three men charged with his murder are White. Prosecutors say Arbery was out for a jog when the suspects chased him through the neighborhood, cornered him with their pickup trucks and shot him. The defendants say they thought he was a burglary suspect, and that they acted in self-defense.” These beyond legal killers were on the hunt for a Black man that day in Georgia. They thought wrong on purpose!

There must be a massive movement to curtail these killers who have found loopholes in existing law to murder. George Zimmerman, the racist that killed Travon Martin, created this hell hole that racist extremists are using. The killers of Ahmaud Arbery and Kyle Rittenhouse were not looking to protect the community but were acting out their racist beliefs under the pretense of “citizen arrest’ and self-defense. The demonstrations against white supremacy will not end.
