VIA seeks disability community advisors for committee
VIA Metropolitan Transit is on the lookout for individuals who use its bus and van services, as well as those involved with organizations aiding the disability community, to join the VIA Accessible Transit Advisory Committee (ATAC).
Established by the VIA Board of Trustees, the ATAC is tasked with examining and advising on the accessibility of VIA’s programs and services. The committee is comprised of five VIA trustees and 10 community liaisons, gathering three to four times annually. During these meetings, both staff and liaisons engage in discussion and address inquiries from the VIA trustees.
Community liaisons on the committee include individuals actively involved in religious or educational institutions, neighborhood groups, and various civic, volunteer, or advocacy organizations. Notably, three of the community liaison roles are specifically reserved for those who frequently use VIA’s transit services.
Interested parties are encouraged to apply by the upcoming deadline on Friday, May 3, 2024. For more information and to submit an application for the VIA Accessible Transit Advisory Committee, please visit VIAinfo.net/ATAC.
