Public display of appreciation for the superheroes who keep San Antonio moving
Last Friday VIA gathered with the public on Transit Driver Appreciation Day to honor and celebrate the almost 1,000 bus and van operators that VIA states, “keep San Antonio moving safely every day as part of VIA’s bus and van services that ensure passengers can connect to jobs, education, health care and more.”
Celebrated nationally, Transit Driver Appreciation Day is, “one that honors their contributions to uplifting our community,” VIA continued in a media advisory. Per tradition, “Thank You” signs were at the event to greet operators on duty. VIA also ensured to mention those who others may forget, when in reality every employee is a crucial part of VIA’s organization. VIA continued, “we also acknowledge the hundreds of frontline workers, including mechanics and maintenance crews, safety, police, and customer information teams who make sure we can deliver safe, reliable bus and van service daily. Customers can join in by saying thank you to a transit employee Friday, and every day.”
