News Release — Theta Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., received the Star Service Award while attending the 58th Middlesouth Region Conference held in Little Rock, Ark., April 10 – 14. The conference’s theme was “Transformative Ways to Build Success through Teams, Transparency, Engagement, Accountability, Mentorship, and Success.”
The Chapter was recognized for having a strong dedication and desire to give back and promote health and wellness within the communities of San Antonio.
During the conference, elections for the Middlesouth Regional officers of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. were held. There were two Chapter members elected to regional officer positions. The Middlesouth Region has elected Bridgett Sterling, DNP, MSN, MHA, RN as its Regional Director. Currently, Dr. Sterling is a Nurse Liaison for Health Care with the Department of Veterans Affairs, an Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, and an Adjunct Professor at St. Philips College teaching LVN courses. Amanda Parham, MSN/Ed, BSN, RN, has been elected to serve as the Regional Treasurer. In her current position, Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Parham serves as an Active-Duty Army Nurse at the Soldier Recovery Unit located on Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Theta Eta Chapter is a professional nursing organization which continues to promote nursing through community service in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention, leadership development, mentoring, recruitment, retention, and assisting in the education of the next generation of student nurses by providing scholarships.
The Chapter was chartered on December 8, 1984, by 12 registered nurses. The chapter holds many events within the San Antonio area communities. Theta Eta Chapter will host its inaugural “Tee Off for Humanity Golf Tournament” on Sept. 19, 2024, at the Olympia Hills Golf Course in Universal City, Texas.
