JBSA-Fort Sam Houston to Host Great Texas Freedom Fest Open House
Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston is inviting the public to experience The Great Texas Freedom Fest, an open house event celebrating military service and community. The event, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., will offer an opportunity for visitors to engage with service members and explore the base through live performances, demonstrations, and family-friendly activities.
Attendees can enjoy live music from the Air Force’s Band of the West, the 323rd Army Band Fort Sam’s Own, and The Spazmatics. Military working dog demonstrations, fitness competitions, and interactive STEM exhibits will give visitors a firsthand look at different aspects of military training and innovation. Guests will also have access to museum tours showcasing the history of JBSA-Fort Sam Houston.
Food trucks and entertainment will be available throughout the event, ensuring a fun experience for all ages. Organized under the theme “United in Service,” the festival aims to strengthen the bond between the military and the San Antonio community. The 502nd Air Base Wing, JBSA Command Team, Freedom Fest director, and Band of the West will be present and available for interviews and on-air performances.
The event is free and open to the public, offering a unique chance to interact with military personnel and gain insight into their mission.
