Overturning of ROE v Wade- The Death Throws of the American Experiment and Checks and Balances
With the overturning of Roe v Wade, we are watching in real time the death throws of the American experiment. Let’s not get it misconstrued, the America as some of us remember it, has been on the path of self destruction for a number of years and it is now coming to a head. If you paid ANY attention in ANY history or government class in school you know the basics of how government works. You have the Executive branch (the President), the Legislative branch (US House of Representatives and US Senate), and the Judicial branch (Supreme Court). These three branches are intended to work as a “check and balance” on each individual branch of government. What happens when those “checks” no longer have “balance”?
JANUARY 6 SELECT COMMITTEE
If you haven’t had an opportunity to watch the January 6 Select Committee Congressional hearings, I highly recommend you catch the upcoming hearings in July. Tasked with investigating the attempted overthrow of the U.S. government on January 6th, 2021, the Committee has shed light on the corruption of the Executive branch under Republican control.
ONE JOB
The Executive Branch or the President, or even the gang leader for the sake of time has basically one job: Implementing and enforcing the laws written by Congress and, to that end, appoints the heads of the federal agencies, including the Cabinet. Sounds easy enough, but what happens when the top guy/gal decides that I don’t care about anything other than what me and my friends want and our vision of this fine nation?
THE ‘PEOPLES HOUSE’
The culmination of Donald Trump’s four years of chaos and corruption in the “People House” resulted in a mob of white people going completely apeshit and trying to hang his homie, the Vice President. Look, I don’t care where you fall on the political spectrum; red/blue, left/right, moderate/conservative, you have to know that that’s F?!&@ED up!!! But hey I get it, when you’re part of the gang; right or wrong, you have to go along with it or else.
‘HE CANT BE HIM WITHOUT A LITTLE HELP’
Now we can’t put it all on Mr. Trump or whoever is running the Executive Branch, he can’t be him without a little help. Furthermore he’s just a symptom of a broken system. Remember there’s a “check” to keep his behind in line.
GEORGE WASHINGTON CAUTIONED NATION ‘NOT TO DIVIDE THEMSELVES’
That brings us to the Legislative branch or “the Gang”. It should be noted, our great constitution that ALL government officials swear by (when it suits their needs) does not mention political parties. When President George Washington left public office, he cautioned the nation not to divide themselves into political parties. In his farewell address, he stated that the spirit of the party, “serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection.”
DIVIDED BY 2 POLITICAL PARTIES
Well no one listened and we got two political parties; the Democrats and the Republicans, or as I like to call them the real Crips and Bloods. Aside from passing laws that govern this fine nation, their sole purpose is to keep an out of control President or “gang leader” from going crazy and starting a nuclear war or I don’t know, try to hang the Vice President.
Instead of wielding the power granted to them as a legislative body and hold the Executive branch accountable for its misdeeds, what if they go along with the maniac at the top? What happens when this same legislative body passes unfavorable laws that will be implemented and enforced by the Executive Branch? What’s worse is what if the laws they pass are not in the interests of the majority but rather a minority of the country?
ONE LAST ‘CHECK’- THE SUPREME COURT
No problem. There’s one last “check”.
The Supreme Court; the world’s preeminent judicial body and the final “check” on an out of control Executive and Legislative Branch.
The Supreme Court consists of nine individuals appointed for life by the Executive Branch or “gang leader” They’re main function in the simplest terms, is to be the final say as to whether a law is “constitutional” or not based on their interpretation of the constitution or basically their view of what the country should look like.
THE MATH IS LOPSIDED
That brings us to the recent Roe v Wade decision. Three white men, one black man, and one white woman made, ALL appointed to their jobs for life made a subjective decision for MILLIONS of women. You don’t have to be a math whiz to know those numbers seem a wee bit lopsided. It can’t be overstated that these people too are members of the real Crips and Bloods, meaning they’re thoughts are generally in line with the rest of the gang.
AMERICA- UNCHECKED AND UNBALANCED
And this is where America finds itself; unchecked and unbalanced. The overturning of Roe v Wade is just the beginning. The system itself is broken and thus there are no limits as to what those in power can and will do to shape this country into their vision. I wasn’t there but I don’t think that this is what the framers had in mind.
