Fred Brock Post 828 celebrates 106th Birthday of The American Legion
For 106 years, The American Legion has stood as a pillar of strength, service, and unwavering dedication to the nation’s veterans.
To recognize the occasion, members of Fred Brock American Legion Post No. 828 attended a cake-cutting ceremony hosted by the post located on the city’s East Side.
The brief ceremony was administered by Post Commander Burrell Parmer who delivered the anniversary speech followed by cutting of a cake.

“The American Legion is as important today as it was when it first began in 1919,” said Parmer. “We must continue to stay active in this worthy organization, not just for us now, but for our future veterans as well.”
Since its founding in the wake of World War I, The American Legion has been a steadfast advocate for those who have borne the weight of defending American freedoms.
“As we celebrate today, let us remember our past, honor our present, and boldly face our future,” Parmer said to those attending. “We must follow a path for growth by welcoming new generations of veterans into our ranks and advocating for those who have given so much in defense of our nation. Together, we will ensure that The American Legion remains as strong in the next century as it has been for the past 106 years.”
The mission of Fred Brock Post 828 is to enhance the well-being of San Antonio’s veterans, their families, the military, and the community by its devotion to mutual helpfulness.
