District Council 19 Serves More Than 150 People at Annual Thanksgiving Outreach
(By: Bro. Burrell Parmer, District Council 19)– Matthew 25:35 (NIV), “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.”
District Council 19 held its Thanksgiving Community Outreach Program for the Homeless which provided a full-course Thanksgiving meal to those less fortunate near the county jail downtown.

All Masonic bodies within the district supported the program which fed more than 150 individuals.
Feeding the homeless provides opportunities for volunteers and community members to interact with those who are often marginalized. These acts of kindness help break down social barriers, reduce stigma, and foster a greater sense of empathy and understanding within the community.
According to District Deputy Grand Master Sidney Thompson, feeding the homeless is not just about providing a meal, it is about uplifting individuals, strengthening communities, and affirming the values of compassion and solidarity.

“We came together in unity and compassion to bless hundreds of less fortunate individuals with a hot meal,” said Thompson. “In addition, we partnered with other organizations that provided sack lunches, clothing, and even monetary vouchers.”
By ensuring that everyone has access to basic sustenance, the district took meaningful steps toward a more just and caring society.

“I’d like to extend my gratitude to Worshipful Master Tadarian Harrell of Noble Star Lodge No. 277 for envisioning and leading this effort, along with the leaders of the other Masonic bodies in supporting our district,” said Thompson. “There are too many to name individually, but I must acknowledge the incredible support from our sisters who came out in full force. Their contributions were invaluable, and we are truly thankful.”
The district plans to make the program an annual event.
