Greetings for Christmas: Stay WOKE!

What “Stay WOKE” Really Means This Christmas

When we meet up with friends this Christmas use this slogan, “Stay Woke.” In this way we can defeat the Tim Scott Uncle Tomism he may have created. Hidden history, that is purposefully ignored, is there to be found. When history reveals evidence, from primary source documents, that an event occurred it cannot be dismissed as “WOKE Supremacy.” One can easily argue that dismissing primary source evidence is unscientific and could be described as “SLEEP supremacy.” If Dereck Bell (Faces at the Bottom of the Well, 1993) is correct in his thesis, that white supremacy will never disappear, it also means people will never stop fighting against it and people will live out his idea of the “ultimate defiance.”

All things are connected in some way, especially in history as the past informs the present and the future. One cannot say, with any sense of intellectual maturity, that the past is over and has no effect on the now. If white supremacy stays around then so will the opposition to it, even if attempts are made to ignore the ugly aspects of the past. We must be aware of the shifty nature of white supremacy and how it has endured for so long.

What is the meaning of the word Woke?

Corruption of the Word “Woke”

One way that they (white supremacists) have been able to maintain racism is by use of corrupting terms. Many do not accept the corruption of the word “Woke,” and are still “WOKE,” and not about to go to sleep during this time of racist trouble that was empowered by some conservatives. Before the term “WOKE” was hijacked by conservatives, it meant being aware of institutional and overt racism, hatred and discrimination, and was originated in the economy language of Black people as a term for empowerment and understanding social, political, and even individual realities. It also had a simpler meaning that one was aware of his situation or surroundings. Activists and educators have vowed that they will not stop teaching Black History. Many argue that to celebrate or investigate Black History is true American History. This means staying WOKE!

Trump as The Grinch, FB
Trump as The Grinch, FB

Grinning puppets of the Trump administration cannot dictate what Black or Brown people think or believe. Blacks and Browns fought against slavery, poisoned masters, marched and protested, created their own economies, and defied racism at every turn. Blacks created African American Studies and DEI programs, won civil rights cases at the Supreme Court, feed children, and survived in American hell. We are no about to go to sleep because some grinning clown tried to change the meaning or words. We have lost some ground but the struggle will continue no matter what lies conservatives can invent.

Grinning Tim Scott

Tim Scott, a Black Republican Senator, was accused of grinning, like never seen before, while standing with Trump. Tt was pointed out by other Black leaders that his grins were a shameful disgrace that destroyed any legacy it might have left. His wide twelve-inch grin reinforced the white stereotype of Blacks as servile puppets willing to follow the most racist politicians. Black civil rights leaders pointed out that the only Black Republican in the U.S. Senate, and true to the Sambo image of a person that loves the enemy more than himself, represents self-hatred, when he said to Trump, “I love you.” A ton of criticism came forth as it was a reminder to many of the role that is expected of Blacks by many conservatives especially in the political arena. The majority of us will not join the grinning choir of white supremacist puppets, so Stay WOKE and Merry Christmas!
