Star Studded Lineup Strive to Secure Spots for Olympics in Paris

2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field Preview: Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Aim for Paris in Eugene

The journey to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games passes through Eugene, Oregon, where America’s track and field elite will compete at Hayward Field starting June 21 for a chance to represent Team USA.

Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, alongside world champions Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson, leads a star-studded lineup vying for Olympic berths.

The men’s 100m is particularly competitive, featuring world champion Noah Lyles, 2019 champion Christian Coleman, Tokyo silver medallist and 2022 world champion Fred Kerley, Olympic and world medallist Kenneth Bednarek, and surprise national champion Cravont Charleston, among others.

Lyles, Bednarek, Coleman, and Kerley will also compete in the 200m, a race that includes Erriyon Knighton, a two-time world medallist.

Sha’Carri Richardson has had an outstanding year, winning the U.S. title at Hayward Field last year and securing her first world title in Budapest in August. She also earned a bronze in the 200m at the World Championships and aims to qualify for the Olympic team in both sprint events in Eugene.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has excelled in every event she’s entered in 2024, following a knee injury that kept her out of the World Championships last year. She set world-leading times in the 400m and 400m hurdles during her season debuts and impressed in the 200m last month. At the Trials, she will focus solely on the hurdles.

The competition promises to be fierce as these top athletes strive to secure their spots for the Olympics in Paris.
