Harrison Barnes Steps Up for San Antonio Students with Major AlamoPROMISE Donation
San Antonio Spurs forward Harrison Barnes and his wife, Brittany Barnes, are making a big difference for local students. Yesterday, February 18, 2025, at St. Philip’s College, the couple announced a generous donation to the AlamoPROMISE program, which helps cover tuition and fees for students in the Alamo Colleges District.
Held in honor of Black History Month, the event brought together key leaders, including San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores, and St. Philip’s College President Dr. Adena Williams Loston. Also in attendance were AlamoPROMISE students who will directly benefit from the program.
“Harrison and Brittany Barnes’ generous investment in AlamoPROMISE is not just a gift – it’s a catalyst for change,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo College District Chancellor. “Their support will open doors for students at St. Philip’s College, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of educational and career success.”
The donation will help remove financial barriers for students pursuing higher education at St. Philip’s College, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and Hispanic-Serving Institution. By expanding access to education, more students will have the opportunity to achieve their academic and career goals without the weight of tuition costs holding them back.
Leaders at the event expressed appreciation for the Barnes family’s commitment to supporting students and strengthening the community. With this contribution, the AlamoPROMISE program will continue to provide life-changing opportunities, ensuring that more students in San Antonio can pursue their dreams.
