Spurs Edge Pelicans as Dylan Harper’s Late Floater Seals Win

San Antonio Holds Off New Orleans After Blowing 20-Point Lead

The Spurs managed to hold off the Pelicans 135-132 Monday night on the road in New Orleans after blowing a 20-point halftime lead.

The Silver and Black lead 77-57 at halftime including 11 first half 3’s before Rookie Derik Queen led a furious Pelicans comeback. Queen scored 29 of his season-high 33 points in the second half, and added 10 rebounds and 10 assists for his first NBA triple-double.

Trey Murphy scored 32 for the Pelicans, who scored 45 points in the third quarter to turn a 20-point deficit into a 102-100 lead heading into the final quarter.

Harrison Barnes scored 24 points leading the way for the Spurs while rookie Dylan Harper capped a 22-point performance with a go-ahead driving floater with 9 seconds left in the game.

Stephon Castle scored 18 points for San Antonio in his first game back from a hip injury and Julian Champagnie added 17 points, including five 3s.

V-Dub; who is still out with a left calf strain, was sorely missed in the middle as the Spurs surrendered 84 points in the paint to New Orleans.

The team is 7-3 in their last ten games and is now 16-7 and currently in fifth place in the Western Conference.

They will now set their sights on their first NBA Cup title as the they face the Lakers (17-6) Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the elimination round. The Lakers won the first matchup 118-116 on November 5th in LA.
