Spurs Surge Past Lakers in LA Victory
The Spurs snapped a three game losing streak Monday night in LA defeating the Lakers 126-102.
Monday’s game was to be the second in a two game home stand for the Lakers against the Spurs however, Saturday’s matchup was canceled due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
The Silver and Black ended the third quarter on a 15-5 run and made a 12-5 run to begin the fourth, opening a 101-94 lead enroute the victory. The loss was the fourth straight for the Lakers.
All five starters scored in double digits lead by VDub’s 23 points and eight rebounds. Both Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle added 23 points a piece. Harrison Barnes scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, while Chris Paul had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.
The Lakers were paced by Anthony Davis’ 30 points and 13 rebounds, while King James added 18 points and eight assists for the Lakers in their first home game since catastrophic wildfires killed at least 24 and burned thousands of structures.
2025 has not been kind to the Spurs so far as they are 2-3 in the new year and 19-19 overall. After going 4-6 over their last 10 games the Spurs are tied with Phoenix for the 10th spot in the West. Despite the rocky start to the year the Spurs are still only a game and a half behind the Clippers who sit in sixth place.
