Shontay Lundy Created Skincare with Black Girl Sunscreen: A Melanin-Friendly Solution for UV Protection

Shontay Lundy is the founder and CEO of Black Girl Sunscreen (BGS). Lundy, a New York-based businesswoman with an MBA, created the company in 2016 after becoming tired of using sunscreen that left a white residue on her skin. She wanted to develop a melanin-friendly sunscreen that would protect people of color, especially Black people, without leaving a white cast.

BGS is designed to dry clear, absorb completely, and provide proper UV protection. Lundy also started the company to challenge the idea that Black people don’t need to wear sunscreen.
