“School ‘Rightsizing’: Community Hearing”

Our school district is currently ‘rightsizing’ schools, leading to closures, upcoming community hearing

Hello SAISD Parents and San Antonio Community Members,

This is the last fun week, as school begins on August 16th. If anyone hasn’t registered their child, they can go to the SAISD website at: https://www.saisd.net/page/back-to-school-essentials. When you go to this website, you will find more information about programs that can help with daily needs, job training, and much more. If anyone needs more support or has questions, they can call Family Support Helpline. For any additional assistance, our Constituent Services team is ready to assist you with any questions; contact us at (210) 554-2210. Parents, the school bell will be ringing soon, so let’s get our kids back on schedule so they will be ready to go back to those early mornings.

Our district is going through the process of “rightsizing” our schools which means that some schools will close and students will be moved to a nearby school. On August 25th at 6 pm, the district will meet at Sam Houston High School to hear from our community. If you want more information about what is going on, you can go to www.saisd.net/rightsizing, and it will explain what our district is trying to do and why we’re facing so many changes.

Lastly, the Governor will call for a special session, possibly in September or October, to review school vouchers again. So as things move forward, I will share all new updates. If anyone has any questions or concerns please email at lena.lopez@saobserver.com

Have a Blessed Week,
