Join everyone on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at either 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM for a profound Juneteenth Black History Bus Tour. Board our chartered bus and embark on a journey through some of San Antonio’s most historic African-American sites. This unique experience is presented by Melaneyes Media, the creators of the documentary “Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City.”

Meeting Point and Parking:
We will gather at the Carver Library, located at 3350 East Commerce Street. Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure to ensure a timely start. Free parking is available at the library.

Tour Highlights:

  • Carver Cultural Community Center (formerly the Colored Branch Library)
  • Phyllis Wheatley High School
  • Ellis Alley
  • The Ella Austin Orphanage
  • And many more historic sites

Throughout the tour, knowledgeable guides will share the rich history and cultural significance of each landmark. This event is inspired by the historical insights revealed in the film “Walk on the River” and organized at the request of our dedicated supporters. As San Antonio grows and evolves, particularly the Eastside—a historically Black neighborhood now facing gentrification—it is vital to preserve and celebrate our history.
