Millennial Lotería: The LatinXperience by Guest Artists: Michael Alfaro & Gerardo Guillen
Millennial Lotería is a creative parody of the traditional Hispanic game of Lotería, replacing outdated stereotypes with contemporary counterparts that reflect the evolving identity and reality of Latinx Millennials. In this reimagined version, La Dama becomes La Feminist, El Mundo transforms into La Student Debt, El Sol turns into El Global Warming, and La Escalera becomes La Border Wall. Through these reinterpreted cards, the exhibition offers a glimpse into modern Latinx life while addressing and challenging historical stereotypes such as colorism, classism, and homophobia within Hispanic-American culture.
