Hello SAISD Parents,
I hope all of you had a chance to enjoy the Juneteenth Celebrations that were going on this weekend. As many of you know, we have been celebrating Juneteenth before it was a National Holiday. It’s truly remarkable that President Biden signed this bill into action and made Juneteenth a national holiday.
For my parents- if you haven’t enrolled your child in Summer School, please call the district to ask about this free program. This program will help your child get help with their academics and give them a place to meet new friends.
I would also like to share some community information about food pantries and other places where you can buy reasonably priced food. For example, I recently had a friend buy a $20 box of produce from River City Produce. I will say that for $20, it was a lot of different fruits and vegetables. I hope these resources help all our SAISD parents because as food prices keep rising, we need these deals to feed our families.
Lastly, as you know, our politicians are trying to find a way to help keep our children safe in all our schools. They are also trying to make changes to different educational bills and trying to find ways to keep our teachers in the classrooms. I want all my parents to know that in Austin, the Texas Educational Agency and State Board of Education are working on many issues under the dome. So, let’s pray that this summer, they can find a way to help fix all our children’s educational needs.
