The state football playoffs are here, and four local high schools are ready to make their mark! Congratulations to Burbank, Jefferson, Sam Houston, and Lanier high schools, all of which have qualified to represent SAISD in the upcoming matches.
Burbank High School, fresh off a stellar 8-2 season, claimed its first district championship since 1978 by dominating league play with a perfect 6-0 record. The Bulldogs will kick off their playoff run at home, facing Pflugerville in the Class 5A bi-district game on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Sports Complex.
Jefferson High School’s Mustangs also enter the playoffs after a strong season, finishing 5-1 in district play with an overall 5-5 record. They’ll host Elgin at Alamo Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m., bringing a bi-district title game to their home turf.
Sam Houston High School’s Hurricanes (5-5 overall) wrapped up the regular season in third place, going 4-2 in district play. They’re set to travel to Liberty Hill for a Friday night showdown at 7:30 p.m.
Finally, Lanier High School’s Voks (5-5 overall) claimed fourth place with a 3-3 district record and will head to Bastrop to face a tough opponent at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
