SAISD SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED $120 MILLION

SAISD students awarded $120 Million in Scholarship offerings

It is a recording-breaking year at San Antonio ISD as students have been awarded more than $120 million in scholarship award offers.  “The number of kids applying for scholarships is up, as well as the amount of money they are getting,” said Eduardo Sesatty, director of Postsecondary Initiatives at SAISD.  “It’s not the same top 10 percent of kids getting more money; we have students across the board getting these offers.”

Ashley Cash, CBA at Young Women’s Leadership Academy, said that she thinks the CBA role at any campus is crucial to making sure students are aware of scholarship opportunities as well as helping the students take advantage of the offerings.

“When a student gets a scholarship, in addition to the financial impact, there is a psychological impact as well,” said Cash. “These scholarships show our students that other people, colleges, institutions see their potential and are invested in them. It helps keep them motivated as they work to get those awards. It helps meet both an immediate need for helping them pay for college so they are not taking on significant loans and making them feel like, ‘Yes, I got a crew behind me, I can go do this. These people believe in me.’”
